Woo Hoo!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I finally finished the first draft of Chimera:500 B.C.E., the second book in my series, which is set in ancient Persia.  Had a lot of fun doing research, but still find it amazing that you need to know so much that you might not even use! I did research on furniture, transportation, food, architecture, clothes, and more!  Amazing!  Now it is in the hands of my Book Editor, who I am sure will have me add, delete, change and no telling what else!

The End of Immediate Family

September 21, 2012 at 3:30 am (Uncategorized)

I am the youngest in my family.  Until recently, I thought that was the best!  You get spoiled, waited on, catered to, protected and loved by all those other family members that were there first.  Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and even all their friends dote on the youngest.  They can’t seem to help it.

Then one day you realize that all those people that have spoiled you, waited on you, catered to you, protected and loved you are slowly leaving you.  You are the last in your immediate family.  Your mother, father sister and brother, aunts, uncles, counsins and all the others have moved on.  And you cry because you miss them.  Then when your tears are spent, you begin to recall all those memories of how they loved you.  And your smile returns.

Different

September 14, 2012 at 3:02 am (Uncategorized)

At times people have asked me where I get the ideas for the characters in my book(s).  The answer is: Everywhere.  All around me, in everyone and everything, but mostly inside me.  I must disagree with any of those writers who maintain (or even think) that their characters are not connected or part of any of friends, family, interesting relatives or even their grocer!  We are writers.  We CREATE people.  If you don’t have a story, watch out!  We’ll give you one! For free!  Yes, free.  Seriously.  Do you get to change it . . .   Well, perhaps.

The World Around Us

September 7, 2012 at 2:59 am (Uncategorized)

Sometimes watching the news about the world around is challenging.  I admit it, I have been a fan of Nancy Grace for quite some time.  I believe she is a ferocious advocate for the victims of crime and admire that.  Yet sometimes I wonder how she deals with reporting mostly about violence that we humans perpitrate against each other on an almost daily basis.  I imagine her rushing hom to the sanctuary and peaceful light of her husband and twins..  But do be careful, nancy.  We need you, but not at the cost of you getting bogged down in the sadness, violence and death that you report in this world.
