Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is supposed to be the day when we honor our Mother.

Sometimes it’s just another day in the life of the mother instead!

Is that a bad thing?

I think that depends on the mother and the day!

Having children is one of the biggest responsibilities a person can ever have.

Some people think they are prepared for it, and the truth is, you CANNOT prepare for motherhood.

And it’s the kids fault!!!

They have the never to go and be different than YOU want them to be.  Or they think they should be different than how you worked your A*! off to raise them to be!  How dare they be independent?!

You did everything you could to give them the best life, the best schools, the best of everything!  Where in the world did that FREE WILL come from?  Now that wasn’t supposed to happen.

So where did you go wrong?

You worked hard and heldped them with their ABC’s when they were little.  Some of you even made sure they knew them BEFORE they started school.  A head start on education, right?

But then their education really DID start, then friends developed, then other people came into their lives, then there was the religion.

What the hairy heck???

Yes, sometimes it is.

But YOU did you part.  And you raised them the best you could.  Maybe you could have done better, and maybe not.  But it doesn’t matter.

You did the best that YOU could do.

In the end they ARE individuals and there’s NOTHING you can do to stop that!

Take heart!  You turned out ok, right?

Live Life to the Fullest

April 19, 2011 at 1:26 am (Uncategorized)

The last couple of weeks have brought up the feeling of mortality to me.  I have spent time with my brother who will soon be 79.  his health is starting to deteriorate and it is all of a sudden very obvious.

Before I always thought that he was in better health than me and he would probably even live long that men, even though he is 15 years older.  It’s amazing and scary how things can change in such a short time.  how doe it happen so quickly?  how do we all of a suddenly become old?

I can tell that I have slowed down a lot in the past ten years, but I still get around pretty good.  So when do we lose our health?  And is it just our health, or is it when we also begin to lose our zest for life?

maybe they are intertwined.  I believe that is the reason for the change in my brother.

He loved the last place he lived and he was able to go for a walk or just be alone if he wanted to.  Where he lives now has more of a hospital feel to it, so I can tell it isn’t the same for him.  Plus the surrounding area is not familiar to him, and he is hesitant to go out and explore.  His mind is starting to slip as well, and  is heartbreaking to watch him be so confused some days.

Doesn’t make me feel so great about looking forward to the further either.

So what can you do?  It doesn’t do any good to worry about it, so all you can do is take one day at a time and enjoy life to the fullest.

What’s the saying?  Live every day like it’s your last because it could be!
